Former Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss and four others, accused of showing favours to a private medical college in Uttar Pradesh in granting renewal for admissions in MBBS course in 2008-2009, were today granted bail by a Delhi court.

Special CBI Judge Madhu Jain granted bail to Ramadoss, the then Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, K V S Rao, Chairman of Rohilkhand Medical College in Bareilly in UP, Keshav Kumar Aggarwal, doctors of Safdarjung Hospital Vindu Amitabh and Sanjeev Kumar Rasania, who were made accused in the graft case by CBI.

"In this court also after receipt of summons, they (accused) have appeared at the first instance. There are no chances of accused persons fleeing from the hands of justice. There is no likelihood that they will tamper with the evidence.

"In the facts and circumstances of the present case, all the accused persons are admitted to bail on furnishing of personal bonds in the sum of Rs one lakh each with one surety each of the like amount," the court said.

The case was transferred from Lucknow to the national capital by the Supreme Court which had allowed the plea of PMK leader Ramadoss seeking shifting of the trial.

Ramadoss had moved the apex court last year for shifting the trial to Patiala House Court here where he has been chargesheeted in a similar case by CBI.

He and other accused were chargesheeted in a special CBI court in Lucknow in the case for allegedly showing favours to Rohilkhand Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) in Bareilly in grant of renewal for admissions in MBBS course in 2008-09.
