Gram, arhar decline on low demand

Prices of gram and arhar fell by up to Rs 150 per quintal at the wholesale pulses market today on decline in demand from retailers.

However, other pulses moved in a narrow range in scattered deals and settled around previous levels.

Traders said subdued demand from retailers against sufficient stocks position, mainly kept pressure on gram and arhar prices.

In the national capital, gram eased to Rs 5,600-6,700 against last close of Rs 5,750-6,800 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality dropped by Rs 200 each to Rs 6,900- 7,200 and Rs 7,300-7,400 per quintal, respectively.

Arhar and its dal dara variety also declined by Rs 100 each to Rs 4,100 and Rs 6,000-7,800 per quintal, respectively.

Urad Rs 5,500-7,000, Urad Chilka (local) Rs 6,000-6,100, Urad best Rs 6,100-6,600, Dhoya Rs 6,500-6,700, Moong Rs 5,200-5,400, Dal Moong Chilka local Rs 5,700-5,900, Moong Dhoya local Rs 6,300-6,800 and best quality Rs 6,800-7,000.

Masoor small Rs 4,200-4,500, bold Rs 4,250-4,600, Dal Masoor local Rs 4,700-5,200, best quality Rs 4,800-5,300, Malka local Rs 5,000-5,200, best Rs 5,100-5,300, Moth Rs 3,450-3,850, Arhar Rs 4,100, Dal Arhar Dara Rs 6,000-7,800.
