Prices of gram and kabuli gram spurted by upto Rs 750 per quintal at the wholesale pulses market today on speculative buying activity, driven by tight stocks position on fall in supplies from producing belts against strong demand.
Urad and a few other pulses also saw rise in demand and ended higher.
Traders said, speculative buying activity, triggered by paucity of ready stocks in the market on fall in arrivals from producing regions against rising demand from retailers, mainly pushed up gram, kabuli gram and other pulses prices.

Kabuli gram small variety followed suit and shot up by Rs 400 to Rs 10,000-10,300 per quintal.
Besan Shaktibhog and Rajdhani quoted higher at Rs 2,700 each instead of Rs 2,550 each per 35 kg bag.
Urad and its dal chilka also climbed by Rs 300 each to Rs 7,000-7,900 and Rs 7,200-7,300 per quintal, respectively. Its dal best quality and dhoya enquired higher by a similar margin to Rs 7,300-7,800 and Rs 7,700-7,900 per quintal.
In line with the overall trend, masoor small and bold moved up by Rs 100 each to Rs 4,900-5,050 and Rs 4,950-5,150 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 5,300-5,800 and Rs 5,400-5,900 per quintal.
Malka local and best quality shot up by Rs 200 each to Rs 5,500-5,700 and Rs 5,600-5,800 per quintal.
Moth and rajmah chitra too finished higher by Rs 200 and Rs 100 to Rs 3,850-4,250 and Rs 7,600-10,400 per quintal, respectively.
