A gram panchayat secretary was arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 at Pamarru village in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, Anti-Corruption Bureau officials said today.
P Anandbhushan was caught red handed at his office yesterday accepting the bribe from a local contractor for sanctioning and releasing his road works bill, Deputy Superintendent of Police, ACB, V Goplakrishna said.
The contractor had agreed to pay the amount and later approached the ACB office, following which a trap was laid last night and Anandbhushan was caught.
A case under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the gram panchayat secretary and further investigations were underway.
