Gram panchayats in Sirsa to be connected through optical fiber

Under the National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN) Scheme, all gram panchayats of Haryana's Sirsa district would be connected through optical fiber cable to provide broadband connectivity within next two years.

Stating this today, Congress MP from Sirsa Ashok Tanwar said that under this central scheme, about Rs 20,000 crore would be spent to connect 2.5 lakh panchayats of the country through optical fiber cable having the speed of 100 mbps.

He said that under the scheme, all the 334 panchayats of Sirsa district would be connected to internet through broadband and in this regard Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd has already conducted a survey.
 

The scheme would facilitate the people to get their birth certificate, death certificate, ration card forms, voter ID forms and other forms and documents related to government facilities under one roof.

In the initial phase, villages falling in Tohana block of district Fatehabad and Chopta, Sirsa, Ellenabad, Rania and Odhan block of district Sirsa would be covered, he said, according to an official release here.
