The Left, socialists and other like-minded political parties, who have joined hands and calling their front as 'Mahagatbhandhan' (grand alliance), today nominated common candidates for Mayor and corporators' polls to be held in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur city on January 31.
Communist Party of India (CPI), CPI(M), Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Sangarsh Dal, Janta Dal (U), Gondwana Gantantra Party (GGP), Rashtriya Samanta Dal have united and are in one accord to fight the BJP and Congress in Jabalpur civic polls, state JD(U) chief Govind Yadav told PTI.
He said a sort of experiment is being carried out at a small scale that is as a prelude to the formal formation of 'Mahagatbhandhan' at the national level.

The MP JD(U) chief recalled that in 1974, all Opposition parties had fielded their president Sharad Yadav as their candidate for the Lok Sabha from historic Jabalpur city which capitulated as a big centre of Opposition to Emergency that led to the ouster of Congress then.
