Grand welcome for world champion Pankaj Advani

Pankaj Advani was accorded a grand welcome at the airport here today when the cue sport champion arrived after winning the IBSF World 6-Red Snooker Championship in Egypt.

The Khel Ratna awardee, who created history by becoming the only player to win the shorter and the longer formats world of billiards and snooker, alongwith with statemate and bronze medal winner in the ladies event Vidya Pillai was received by SBA and BSFI officials, along with DYSS Director Ramesh and 50 students from the sports hostel.

The Arjuna Awardee Advani defeated Kacper Flilpiak of Poland in the final on Sunday to win his maiden 6-Red world title and ninth overall.
 

Advani, who has won 7 world titles in billiards and 1 in snooker, added a new kind of world title to his overflowing cabinet of trophies.

He won both World snooker titles on debut - the IBSF World Snooker Championship, China and this one, the 6-Red World Snooker Championship.

This win has taken Pankaj to highest tally of world titles by any Indian cueist in the Open (Men's) category.
