A search is on for the grandson of late businessman-cum-politician D K Audikeshavulu Naidu after he escaped from a private hospital here on Friday, a day after his car rammed into another vehicle injuring six people, the police said today.

Geetha Vishnu was booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act for rash and negligent driving, they said.

He was allegedly drunk when the incident occurred, and 110 grams of marijuana was found inside his vehicle, the police said.

Vishnu, who was admitted to a private hospital for treatment of his injuries, however, escaped from there, they said.

A footage of CCTV cameras installed at the hospital purportedly show Vishnu walking out with the help of a man.

"Search is on to find him. Those who are trying to protect him or facilitating his escape are also under the scanner. We have already arrested one person," DCP (South) S D Sharanappa told reporters here.

He said police has received an information about where he has gone.

"...continuously he is changing places to escape with the support of family. We have an information about it," the official said.

Sharanappa said before the accident, the accused had partied with his friends and notice has been issued to six of them to appear for an inquiry today.

"Three of them have come till now and an inquiry is on," he added.

The police said Vishnu is most likely to be in Hyderabad or neighbouring Andhra Pradesh and a team has gone there to nab him.

The six people were being treated for their injuries, the police said.
