Grant permission to hold kabaddi, cricket, games: Circular

: Additional Advocate General today informed Madras High Court bench that a circular has been issued to the respective police officers to grant permission without delay to hold Kabbadi, cricket, Dance and Music and local traditional functions without delay.

He said the circular had been issued in response to the HC directive, which felt that permission for such events should be granted to encourage spirit of sportsmanship, among village youth and also encourage them to come together, setting aside caste, creed and religion.

Justice T Raja said the need of the hour was integrity of the nation and it required promotion sports and such other events among the Youths.
 

He appreciated the circular issued by Superintendent of Police of Madurai district and hoped it would be followed by all in future.

He hoped the IG(South Zone) would also issue a similar direction to all SPs so that such events are held amicably and without local people unnecessarily moving court.

The Judge gave the direction on petitions filed by various persons, inclduing one P Elayaraja, seeking grant of permission for conduct of various games.
