"BJP with its communal agenda cannot be an alternative," CPI-ML(L) state committee member Naren Bora told reporters here.

"We will fight against both Congress and BJP," he said adding CPI-ML(L) will work to create an alternative with other Left and democratic parties in the ensuing panchayat polls in Assam.

The party today released it manifesto for the panchayat polls and said it would put up candidates in ten districts -- Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Nagaon, Sonitpur, Morigaon, Kamrup Rural, Barpeta, Cachar and Karimganj.

"We have decided to avoid any contest with other Left parties like CPI and CPI-M. We believe only a Left and democratic alternative is viable for the state," Bora said.

In its manifesto, CPI(ML)-Liberation called for steps to end mismanagement of rural development funds and for strengthening of the panchayati raj system.
