Gravel trader killed in business rivalry

A 45-year-old man engaged in gravel mining was allegedly beaten to death by his rivals in Tonk district.

Kaluram was engaged in gravel mining and related trade and on May 22, he was beaten with rods and sticks allegedly by his business rivals, leaving him critically injured, sources said.

He succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Jaipur yesterday and the body was handed over to family members today, they said.

"The relatives led by Dausa MP Kirori Meena protested with the body at Len village in Mehendwas area, demanding compensation for the family," police said.

Meena also spoke to chief secretary C K Mathew and sought his intervention in the matter, sources said.
 

Three accused, identified as Sangram, Raju and Rajaram were arrested yesterday, police added.
