Engine maker Greaves Cotton today said it has entered into a strategic partnership with Altigreen Propulsion Labs to offer a range of clean energy powertrain solutions for 3-wheelers and micro 4-wheeler commercial vehicles.

To begin with, the two partners will launch Altigreen's offering, HyPixi a low cost partial electrification solution for retro-fitment on current fossil-fuel based vehicles, the company said in a statement.

"This partnership allows us to address the core issue of reduction in carbon load in the atmosphere, along with providing a cost effective greener solution to our customers," Greaves Cotton MD and CEO Nagesh Basavanhalli said.

He said the company is committed to providing fuel- agnostic solutions and the partnership is a manifestation in the same direction.

Altigreen Propulsion Labs CEO Amitabh Saran said the partnership leverages Greaves' aftermarket network enabling more people to benefit sooner from the use of Altigreen's products and technology.

Greaves' automotive engines division has been supplying powertrain solutions to over 35 original equipment manufacturers in the last mile transportation segment in India, the statement said.

There are over 5 million Greaves-powered vehicles on the roads today, it added.

This huge park of passenger and cargo vehicles can be offered the partial electrification solution through Greaves' over 3,500 aftermarket network in India, it said, adding the retro fitment solution gives up to 25 per cent improvement in mileage and reduction in tailpipe emissions.
