The Greek managers of an oil tanker reported missing earlier this month off the coast of Angola in western Africa say they have re-established contact with the vessel and confirmed that the ship had been attacked by pirates.

Dynacom Tankers Management said in a statement today that pirates had stolen a large amount of cargo. It said one crew member had been wounded but all were alive and accounted for.

The company did not say how many crew were on board and refused to provide any further details.

Dynacom thanked "European, North American and other international intelligence agencies" for their help. It said it had lost contact with the Kerala on Jan. 18 when it was off Luanda, and re-established contact with the ship yesterday.
