Protesters under the banner of Odisha Green Card Holder Women's Association held a rally here and blocked national highways at different places demanding fulfilment of their demands that include jobs, allowances and travel concessions.

People opting for sterilisation programme of the state health department are entitled for land by the government, but the protesters are demanding additional benefits.

Irked over the delay in fulfilment of their demands, the women wanted to meet Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the parade venue but were stopped by police at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg here.

Meanwhile the blockade left hundreds of vehicles stranded on both side of the NH at Uttara near the state capital near Kendrapara town on National Highway-5(A) connecting Paradip and Daitari.
