The Tribunal sought the specific plan while asking MoEF, the Central Pollution Control Board and the UP authorities to file their replies by July 3 to a petition seeking ban on setting up new industrial units in "critically-polluted" Noida till its environment quality is improved through a "remedial action plan".
"Counsel for MoEF is directed to provide specific action plan for Noida and also indicate the status of action plan and steps taken for its implementation," said a bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice A S Naidu.
The bench had on April 11 ordered that no fresh environmental clearance would be granted for new industrial units or for expansion of any operating industry in Noida without its consent.
The Noida Entrepreneurs Association (NEA), meanwhile, has moved the National Green Tribunal saying it is a "necessary party" to the case. The bench has asked it to file a formal application for the same for consideration by it.
"A prayer has been made on behalf of Noida Entrepreneur Association to be impleaded as a party to present application. Let a regular application be filed so that the same can be considered," the bench also comprising G K Pandey as expert member said.
The NEA sought impleadment in the case saying the April 11 order has a "direct effect" on the industrial units and the members of the association.
"The whole case and the April 11 order directly affects the interest of the members of the NEA and therefore we are a necessary party to the case," Advocate Amit Khemka appearing for NEA said. He added they want to ensure that non-polluting units do not suffer from the order. (More)
