Two persons today sustained splinter injuries in a grenade attack by militants in Anantnag district of south Kashmir, police said.

The attack comes a day after militants targeted telecom facilities by carrying out three grenade attacks here.

A police officer said that militants hurled a grenade in Achabal Bus stand around 2 PM, causing splinter injuries to two pedestrians.

He said the target of the grenade attack was apparently a patrol party of security forces but the device missed the intended target and exploded on the roadside.

The whole area has been cordoned off and a hunt has been launched to nab the militants, the officer said.

He said the injured civilians were taken to hospital and their condition was stated to be "stable".

Yesterday, four persons were injured in the series of attacks aimed at mobile telecommunication facilities here.
