Movie icon Greta Garbo's New York City apartment has been placed on the market for just under USD 6 million.

The "Camille" star lived in the luxury seven-room pad in the Campanile co-op building in Manhattan from 1954 until her death in 1990, when it was inherited by her niece Gray Reisfield - the actress' sole heir, reported the New York Times.

Now, Reisfield has decided to sell up, four years after she and her husband moved out of the property and relocated to San Francisco, California in 2013.

The apartment doesn't come cheap - in addition to the sale price, it comes with a monthly maintenance fee of nearly USD 9,100.
