Grocery merchant, staff shot dead by armed miscreants

Unidentified armed miscreants today shot dead a grocery merchant and his staff at Jagdamba Asthan near Gudri Bazar within the limits of Town Police station in Bihar's Vaishali district.

The incident occurred when the deceased, identified as grocery merchant Ankit Kumar and his staff Dipu, were returning to Patna on their scooter after collecting money from traders of Gudri Bazar, the police said.

Ankit Kumar was the grocery merchant of Maroofganj market in the state capital.

The miscreants fled the scene with the merchant's scooter, the police said.

Local residents rushed them to the Sadar hospital where they were declared dead on arrival.
 

Town Police Station SHO Rameshwar Upadhyaya said the police have recovered a mobile phone and a wallet from the deceased merchant and were investigating the matter.

The bodies would be sent for post-mortem, the SHO said.
