Ground preparation work for cement concrete paved road

The ground preparation works for execution of cement concrete paved road (rigid pavement) in Arunachal Pradesh capital are going on in full swing and lying of concrete will begin from the first week of December with target for completion set as March 2015.

The rigid pavement is a design road, a purely mechanized based work which would have life span of above 50 years. This rich quality road is being taken up in state for first time. The state government has decided to take up design concrete in phase wise manners, an official statement said here today.

This year 23.19 km total length of rigid pavement road has been considered.
 

Rigid and flexible pavement would be executed with heavy T&P and the department is encountering lots of problem in regard of acquiring required minimum road width of 7 metre, the statement said.

Meanwhile, up-gradation, improvement and maintenance works of capital roads have already been taken up in various areas of Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Doimukh, the statement informed.

About 171 km of roads out of networks of above 300 km excluding National Highways in the state capital would be maintained during this year of which 46.95 km would be renewal of surface with designed concrete and bituminous paved road.

During 2014-15 the department is taking up 23.19 km of cement concrete road (rigid pavement), 23.76 km of paved bituminous surface road (flexible pavement) and 124 km of normal maintenances which are targeted to be completed by March 2015, the statement said.
