Groundnut oil rises on uptick in demand

In restricted activity, groundnut oil prices shot up by Rs 200 per quintal at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today on the back of pick-up in retailers demand.

However, other edible and non-edible oils moved in a narrow range in limited deals and settled around previous levels.

Traders said besides pick-up in demand from retailers, restricted supplies from producing regions mainly pushed up groundnut oil prices.

In the national capital, groundnut mill delivery (Gujarat) oil jumped Rs 200 to Rs 9,200 per quintal. Groundnut solvent refined followed suit and edged up by Rs 25 to Rs 1,725-1,825 per tin.
 

Following are today's quotations (in Rs per quintal):

Oilseeds: Mustard seed Rs 2,950-3,050 and Groundnut Seed Rs 2,150-2,900. Vanaspati Ghee (15-litre tin) Rs 850-1,065.

Edible oils: Groundnut Mill Delivery (Gujarat) Rs 9,200, Groundnut Solvent Refined (per tin) Rs 1,725-1,825, Mustard expeller (Dadri) Rs 8,750, Mustard Pakki Ghani (per tin) Rs 1,400-1,450, Mustard Kachi Ghani (per tin) Rs 1,450-1,550, Sesame Mill delivery Rs 7,000, Soyabean Refined Mill Delivery (Indore) Rs 6,500, Soyabean Degum (Kandla) Rs 6,200, Crude Palm Oil (Ex-Kandla) Rs 4,100, Cotton seed Mill Delivery (Haryana) Rs 5,750, Palmolein (RBD) Rs 5,200, Palmolein (Kandla) Rs 5,150 and Coconut (per tin) Rs 1,900-1,950.

Non-edible oils: Linseed Rs 9,100, Castor Rs 9,450-9,550, Neem Rs 5,350-5,450.
