Lauding the railway budget, Karataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today said it is pro-growth and development friendly and Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge has protected both state and national interests.
He complimented the central government for not increasing freight charges keeping larger public interest in mind.
Siddaramaiah expressed happiness over the provisions made in the budget for express rail connectivity between Yeshwantpur-Katra and Bangalore-Patna (weekly once), also train between Bangalore-Thiruvananthapuram (weekly twice).

He also welcomed 46km new line construction between Kadur to Chikkamagalur, 85 km gauge conversion between Kolar-Chikkaballapur and doubling between Maddur-Mandya (19 km) and Birur-Ajjampura (18km).
Pointing out the provisions made for various daily rail service and survey for new rail routes mentioned in the budget, Siddaramaiah said Kharge, who hails from Karnataka, has been successful in protecting both national and state interests.
