With the arrest of eight members of a gang involved in train robberies, police today claimed to have solved over three dozen such cases.
Police were tipped last night that a group of robbers were planning to rob some train on Cantt railway station, GRP Circle Officer Surendra Tiwari said.
"Police conducted a raid and arrested the eight accused after a chase. Mahesh alias Samir Verma is the kingpin of the gang. He has confessed to his involvement in over three dozen cases of loot," Tiwari said.

The police has also recovered four knives, sedative powder, stolen suitcases, trolley bags and Rs 5,000 form them.
The gang used to target VIP trains like Rajdhani and Shatabdi and would decamp with passengers' briefcases and trolley bags, he said.
The other members of the gang have been identified as Madhukar, Rishi Gupta, Anil Kumar, Abhishek Mishra, Santosh Kumar, Shailesh Shrivastava and Monu.
