GRP constable, 2 others held in bribery case

Three persons, including a railway police constable, were arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe from a vendor from Dombivali railway station in the district, ACB officials said.

Thirty five year old Kabir Pirjade, a constable with the Government Railway Police (GRP) was arrested late last night along with two agents Rafique Mohmammad Shaikh (40) and Hemant Dnyaneshwar Dabholkar (29), Superintendent of Police ACB Thane Datta Karale said.

Pirjade had demanded Rs 8,500 from the vendor for allowing him to carry on his business of selling goods on the station premises, which the complainant had agreed to pay.

Accordingly, he was to pay Rs 5,000 to the constable last night.
 

Meanwhile, the complainant approached the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), which laid a trap and caught Pirjade accepting the money. The two agents were also held.

The trio has been booked under sections of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988.

Further probe into the case is being carried out by the Thane Unit ACB.
