GRP official arrested for assaulting TTE

A suspended government railway police official was arrested for allegedly assaulting a Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) of Purulia-Villipuram Superfast train at Berhampur station, the police said today.

He was arrested yesterday after TTE K Kiran Sagar had lodged an FIR alleging that he was assaulted by some GRP personnel at the instigation at the GRP official when the train stopped at Berhampur on Monday.

The GRP man was found travelling without a ticket and without uniform in the B1 coach. He refused to vacate the coach when Sagar asked him to do so and instead abused him.

When the train stopped at Berhampur, some GRP personnel, including some in uniform, dragged the TTE out of the train at Munda' s behest and assaulted him as per the FIR.

 

The injured TTE is undergoing treatment at the railway hospital in Visakhapatnam.

The Director General of Police R P Sharma had suspended Rajendra Kumar Munda, who was Inspector in-Charge of Government Railway Police (Berhampur), on Tuesday for misconduct and for travelling in the train without a ticket, a poilice official said.
