GRP recovers arms, ammunition during special checkings in Pb

In a series of special checkings carried out over the last month across the state, Government Railway Police seized seven country-made guns and 15 live cartridges and arrested a number of persons, two of whom were residents of Gurdaspur.

During the checks, two country made pistols of .315 bore with two live cartridges were recovered at Ludhiana Railway Station on January 15 and a FIR was registered under Arms Act against three persons -- Yaqoob Ali and Nazeer of Gurdaspur and Mohd Vasir of Jalandhar, an official release said here today.

Giving details of other seizures made, the release said that at Pathankot Railway Station one country made pistol and two live cartridges of .315 bore were recovered from one Rinku Sharma, a resident of Maruanna in Madhya Pradesh and an FIR under Arms Act was registered against him on January 26.
