Upset over "family issues" which forced him to leave Corlim village, a 16-year-old boy from Old Goa decided to "teach a lesson" to the villagers and allegedly went on damaging their vehicles and sending them provocative letters before he was arrested, police said today.
The teenager was held on Sunday when he was trying to damage a four-wheeler in Corlim village using a stone, Old Goa police said, adding that he was sent to a reformation facility 'Apna Ghar'.
However, the menace allegedly caused by him gave sleepless nights to Corlim residents for over a month, as over six vehicles, including two buses, parked in the area were damaged without provocation.
As per a release by police, some residents received anonymous letters threatening of a blast, which later turned out to be a hoax.
Police stated that some people received objectionable text messages. However, the sender's number could not be traced since the messages were sent using a software.
According to police, the teenager has owned up to his acts which he committed to "teach a lesson" to the villagers as he had to shift to Old Goa village from Corlim.
Both the villages are situated 9 kms away from Panaji.
Police said the boy used to travel to Corlim during pre-dawn hours on his bike to create nuisance, and returned before sunrise.
