The Delhi government is forming GST committees in markets across the city to look into the difficulties being faced by traders under the new indirect tax regime.

Each such committee will have chartered accountants and representatives from among the traders, Sisodia said.

He said the issues faced by the traders may affect business and tax collection.

The helpline numbers and facilitation centres started by the Delhi government are helping in terms of explaining the GST Act to traders but several issues at the level of implementation remain unresolved, he told reporters.

"The committees will have 12-15 members. We will establish a mechanism to get feedback from them. We will also raise their issues at the GST council meetings," Sisodia, who heads the finance department as well, said.

The city government has been running six "GST help vans" in commercial areas to address traders' problems arising out of the new tax regime, which was rolled out on July 1.

On June 30, a day before its implementation, Sisodia had said that GST might end up in a "huge mess" if concerns over the new tax regime were not resolved in time.
