State-run Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) has recorded a net profit of Rs 53.92 lakh for year 2013-14 while grossing an all-time high turnover of Rs 26.88 crore which is 12 per cent more than the previous year, ist chairman said today.

"Due to its proactive and professional management of assets, GTDC has turned around the situation this year by reporting a net profit of Rs 53.92 lakhs for 2013-14," GTDC chairman Nilesh Cabral said.

"The increase in revenue is due to increased accommodation and utilisation of GTDC properties at Vagator, Anjuna, Baga which have been put to use within the purview of non-development zone and the increase in revenue from cruise operations through its single-window system," he said.

GTDC-owned properties at Palolem and Benaulim, which also fall under non-development zone, are undergoing development and are expected to generate revenue for the corporation.

Buoyed by this jump in profit, GTDC is geared up to initiate and launch a host of products and services which will enhance tourist experience and comfort in Goa, Cabral said.

"Two of the foremost things that GTDC has proposed to do is the development of Mayem lake in Bicholim and accommodation facilities for boosting hinterland tourism in Goa," he added.
