Guar seed prices slumped by Rs 36 to Rs 3,422 per quintal in futures trade today as traders reduced bets amid a weak trend in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, guar seed for delivery in November contract slipped by Rs 36, or 1.04 per cent, to Rs 3,422 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,980 lots.

Also, the contract for delivery in October fell by Rs 22, or 0.65 per cent, to Rs 3,385 per quintal, with an open interest of 67,880 lots.

Marketmen said the fall in guar seed prices was mostly attributed to offloading of positions in line with a weak trend at the spot market on reduced offtake against increased arrivals.
