Guargum prices slumped Rs 360 to Rs 9,230 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators trimmed positions amid weak domestic as well as export demand.

At National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, guargum for delivery in far-month January next year contracts dropped Rs 360, or 3.75 per cent, to Rs 9,230 per quintal, with an open interest of 259 lots.

Also, the commodity for the most-active October slipped by Rs 280, or 3.08 per cent, to Rs 8,800 per quintal, in an open interest of 18,520 lots.

Marketmen attributed persistent fall in guargum prices to fall in demand at the domestic spot market and export enquiries amid persistent supplies.
