Guargum prices drifted by Rs 90 to Rs 5,610 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators preferred to book profits at existing levels.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, guargum for delivery in February declined by Rs 90, or 1.58 per cent to Rs 5,610 per quintal, with an open interest of 643 lots.

On similar lines, most-active delivery in March lost Rs 10, or 0.17 per cent to Rs 5,730 per quintal, in an open interest of 27,420 lots.

According to marketmen, profit booking by speculators at prevailing higher levels mainly pulled down guargum prices at futures trade.

Pick up in arrivals amid sluggish demand in physical markets, too kept pressure on prices, they added.
