Guargum prices flared up by Rs 74 to Rs 6,326 per quintal in futures trading today as traders widened their bets, triggered by a firm trend at the domestic spot as well as overseas markets.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, guargum delivery for most-active January spurted by Rs 74, or 1.18 per cent, to Rs 6,326 per quintal, with an open interest of 40,265 lots.
In a similar fashion, guargum for delivery this month surged by Rs 69, or 1.12 per cent, to Rs 6,257 per quintal, with a business turnover of 5,135 open lots.
Marketmen said accumulation of positions by participants in line with firm spot markets on the back of strong demand, mainly influenced guargum prices at futures trade.
