Guargum prices improved by Rs 49 to Rs 6,190 per quintal in futures trading today after participants created fresh positions driven by a firm trend at the domestic physical market amid positive global cues.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, guargum for delivery in January month contracts was trading higher by Rs 49 or 0.80 per cent to Rs 6,190 per quintal, in an open interest of 29,160 lots.

Guargum for delivery in far-month February contracts too rose by Rs 47 or 0.76 per cent to Rs 6,255 per quintal, with an open interest of 19,165 lots.

Marketmen said the rise in guargum prices at futures trade was mostly attributed to building up of fresh positions by participants, tracking a firm trend at the physical markets.

Besides, good export demand also supported the upside in prices.
