Guarseed futures up on firm spot market cues

Guarseed prices were higher by Rs 23 to Rs 3,405 per quintal in futures trading today after traders enlarged positions, tracking a firm trend at the physical markets.

In futures trading at the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, guarseed 10 mt for delivery in most-active October month contracts was trading higher by Rs 23, or 0.68 per cent to Rs 3,405 per quintal, having an open interest of 94,200 lots.

In a similar fashion, delivery in far-month November contracts advanced by Rs 19, or 0.55 per cent to Rs 3,443 per quintal, with an open interest of 14,280 lots.

Marketmen said the rise in guarseed prices at futures trade was mostly attributed to widening bets by particiants, triggered by a firm trend at the spot markets on strong demand at prevailing levels amid tight supplies.
