Guatemala's national police force says it has captured a half-ton of cocaine in a plane that flew in from South America.

The agency says two Guatemalan crew members also were arrested when the Piper Seneca landed yesterday at the Aeroclub de Rio Dulce airstrip in Izabal province, about 300 kilometers northeast of the capital, Guatemala City.

Police say in a news release that information from Colombia and Venezuela tipped them off to the flight, so they began monitoring several landing strips.
