Guidelines to regulate and monitor the functioning of play schools in Delhi to ensure safety and security of children have been issued by the Lieutenant Governor (LG), Delhi High Court was informed today.
This information was given by the city government to a bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw, which disposed of a PIL seeking directions to the Centre, city authorities and police to ensure safety of children in school premises and proper monitoring of play schools.
"In the wake of guidelines of LG, there is nothing left in the petition. Petition is disposed of. The petitioner is granted liberty to approach appropriate commission if he feels aggrieved," the bench said.

The petitioner, Ajay Gautam, had also alleged that the authorities have "failed to monitor and regulate these kind of creches and play way school.
He also claimed that there were no supervisory methods which could be enforced for implementation of rules and established norms for education, safety and maintenance of a school, "which resulted in molestation and sexual assaults of minor children".
The city government, however, refuted the allegations made in the petition saying guidelines issued by the LG were in place for monitoring such institutions and thus the plea was liable to be disposed of.
