Guj CM inaugurates new buildings to mark 57th foundation day

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today inaugurated new buildings and launched a new scheme for elderly people to mark the 57th foundation day of Gujarat.

Rupani, deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel and senior ministers started their day by paying floral tributes at the statue of Indulal Yagnik, who spearheaded the 'Mahagujarat' Movement demanding statehood for Gujarat, at Lal Darwaza here.

The Chief Minister then inaugurated a nursing hostel and a hostel for post-graduate medical students at civil hospital, an OPD block at GMERS Hospital, homeguard headquarters and a low-income group housing complex.

He also announced allotment of Rs four crore for "Shravan Teerth Darshan Yojana," under which those who are 65 or above will get 50 per cent concession on state transport buses for travelling to religious places.
 

Rupani inaugurated a nursing hostel and a PG hostel, built at a cost of Rs 35 crore and Rs 62 crore, respectively, at the city civil hospital.

His government had spent Rs 888 crore as of March 2017 on modernisation of civil hospital, he said, and announced that 600 additional nursing seats have been approved and 50 new nursing colleges will be opened in the state.

Later, Rupani inaugurated Rs 16.38 crore homeguard headquarters building. It was a tribute to dedication and hard work of over 40,000 homeguard jawans, he said.

He inaugurated an OPD block at GMERS hospital and announced that GMERS Medical College will offer 21 seats for PG course.

His government was committed to increase medical seats to 5,000 in two years, and medical colleges will also come up in tribal districts such as Tapi and Narmada, he said.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated LIG flats constructed at a cost of Rs 130 crore under Mukhya Mantri Awas Yojana in Chandkheda locality.
