On the occasion of country's 66th Republic Day, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel hailed the participation of women in today's grand parade.
Patel posted her comments on a micro-blogging site expressing happiness over the Republic Day celebrations.
"Privileged to offer high-headed salute to the tricolour as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on 66th Republic Day," she posted.

Adding that,"Our armed forces have always brought glory to our nation. This R-Day, I salute them for sacrificing their lives in service to Mother India!"
"For the 1st time, all 3-wings of Armed Forces - Army, Navy & Air Force participated in the march past parades of state R-Day celebrations. Also, it was for the 1st time that 23 women platoons had joined the state Republic Day parade!"
Back in the state, the tri-colour was hoisted by Gujarat Governor O P Kohli today at Khambhalia town of newly created Devbhoomi-Dwarka district.
The state-level celebration was held at police parade ground in Ramnangar area of Khambhalia.
Nearly 1,000 jawans, including 450 women personnel, of Army, state police, State Reserve Police, NCC, Raksha Shakti University and Home Guards took part in the parade.
The state police personnel also showcased their skills through bike stunts, rifle drill and dog show, said an official statement.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion included Chief Secretary D J Pandian, Director General of Police P C Thakur and Jamnagar MP Poonam Madam.
