Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today laid the foundation stone for a four-lane new bridge across river Narmada at Bharuch, about 90 kms from here.

"The Rs 309-crore four-lane bridge will come up next to the over 136-year-old golden bridge which connects Bharuch to Ankleshwar," Patel was quoted as saying in an official release.

The bridge will be built in next 30 months at an estimated cost of Rs 309.10 crore by Road and Building department of the state, the release said.

At present, there are two bridges including golden bridge, which was constructed in 1882 and railway bridge over river Narmada in Bharuch.

"The new bridge will solve the problem of traffic jams and will make the road journey between Surat and Vadodara smoother and speedier," Patel added.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also inaugurated a Rs 60-crore new plant at Dudh Dhara dairy in Bharuch where she announced increasing milk procurement price by Rs 30 to Rs 585 per kg fat which will be paid to the milk producers.

Also during her visit, Patel dedicated developmental projects amounting to Rs 399 crore in Bharuch district and handed over plot of 250 sq feet to each of the five women milk producers cooperative societies for constructing 'doodh ghar' (milk centres), it said.
