Gujarat Congress today sought Rs 2,000 crore package for the flood-affected people in the state.
"The Gujarat government should immediately announce a package of at least Rs 2,000 crore for those who have been affected by floods," Gujarat Congress chief Bharatsinh Solanki said here today.
"The devastation due to heavy rains and floods in Amreli district is huge. Farmers' lands have been washed away and they cannot grow crops on it. Thousands of houses are destroyed and small businessmen are also affected due to the floods," Solanki, who had recently visited the district, said.

Apart from Amreli, parts of Gir Somnath, Junagadh and Rajkot districts have also been badly affected, he said.
Heavy rains led to death of a large numbers of cattle, Solanki said, adding, those who survived are facing acute shortage of fodder. "The state government should immediately arrange fodder for animals," he said.
He also demanded that electricity bills of people of the affected areas should be waived for a year. "Small and big businessmen have faced losses as their goods were destroyed in the floods."
At least 70 people died in the floods caused by heavy rains that lashed the Saurashtra region last Wednesday.
