G K Upadhyay, Special Judge, ACB court, Gandhinagar, ordered District Superintendent of Police Archana Shivhare to enquire into the allegations made by Ishaq Maradia, and submit report by October 6, 2012.
Maradia, on whose application the Governor Dr Kamla Beniwal, on July 26, had granted the sanction to prosecute Solanki, today got registered his complaint under Prevention of Corruption Act with the ACB court.
His application was heard by the evening court, and after a prolonged hearing, judge Upadhyay ordered an inquiry under section 202 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
Advocate Rajesh Mankad, who is representing Maradia, said, "In our application we have demanded, on the basis of Governor's sanctions, that necessary action should be taken against the Minister in accordance with the law, in the case where because of his corruption state exchequer lost Rs 400 crores in 2009."
State cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Narendra Modi, had twice rejected Maradia's demand to sanction the Minister's prosecution.
Later, following High Court's order, state government forwarded its decision of refusing sanction to the office of the Governor. The Governor overruled state's stand and allowed Maradia's request.
Solanki has moved the High Court against the Governor's order. His petition would be heard on Monday.
