Guj forms task force to devise strategy to eliminate poverty

The Gujarat government today formed a task force comprising several ministers to device a new strategy to eliminate poverty in the state and provide suggestions to the government to achieve this objective.

According to an official press release issued here, Gujarat's Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramanlal Vora has been appointed chairman of this task force.

Cabinet ministers who will function as members include Gujarat Finance Minister Saurabh Patel, Tribal Development Minister Mangubhai Patel and Transport Minister Vijay Rupani, the release stated.

The task force also comprises two Ministers of State (MoS), including Urban Development Minister Shanker Chaudhari as well as Women and Child Development Minister Vasuben Trivedi, the release stated.
 

Besides ministers, additional chief secretaries, principal secretaries and secretaries of different departments have also been included in the task force, the release stated.

Principal Secretary (Planning) of the General Administration Department has been designated as the task force's member-secretary, the release stated.

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel recently attended a NITI Aayog meeting in New Delhi, where a detailed discussion was held about eliminating poverty in India, it added.

To work in that direction and to device an effective strategy to make sure that benefits of various schemes reach needy citizens, the task force has been formed by the Gujarat state government, the release stated.
