Use of new technology by Gujarat government in management of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme was the highlight of one of the six documentary films on good governance initiatives launched by Minister of State for Personnel V Narayanasamy here today.
The Minister launched six documentary films on good governance initiatives, winners of national e-governance award, aimed at promoting such practices.
Gujarat government's integrated Geo-spatial ICT Solution for Scientific Planning and Monitoring of MGNREGS works in the state was among the six films released by Narayanasamy.

"Because of the scale of the scheme, there are issues in implementation such as quality of labour budget planning, duplication of works and time lag in monitoring of works. In order to address these issues, Gujarat has developed an Integrated Geo-spatial ICT solution for planning and monitoring of MGNREGS works in the state. The solution integrates Geographical Information System, Remote Sensing, Global Positioning System and Mobile Technology," official spokesperson said in a statement.
Speaking on the occasion, Narayanasamy said,"...These e-governance innovations have shown how public service delivery can be improved to the satisfaction of people.
He said there is a lot of potential for replication of these initiatives and requested states and union territories to adapt, replicate and further innovate these successful practices.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary DARPG, Sanjay Kothari, in his welcome address, said 61 documentary films have been produced so far and are made available on YouTube and Departments' website (www.Darpg.Gov.In).
