The Gujarat High Court today disposed of a suo-motu public interest litigation (PIL) seeking conservation of the historical Dandi bridge from where Mahatma Gandhi led his Dandi march in 1930.

The court said the steps taken by the civic body in this regard were satisfactory.

The division bench of acting Chief Justice V M Sahai and Justice R P Dholaria disposed of the PIL.

The High Court had, in 2012, taken a serious note of the condition of the Dandi Bridge in Ahmedabad after one of the judges wrote a letter to the then Chief Justice.

The HC had directed the civic body to conserve the bridge.
