A man was killed and another severely injured after being thrown out of a running train for resisting robbery in Bharuch district of Gujarat early this morning.

Santosh Kodi has died while his companion Ashok Yadav is battling for his life at Bharuch Government Hospital.

The two were found at different places along the track near Panoli, said a Government Railway Police official.

The police could not get much information from Yadav as he was not in a position to speak but he told them that he and Kodi were travelling from Ankleshwar to Surat where they worked as daily wage earners.

Between Panoli and Ankleshwar, some unidentified persons tried to rob them. When they tried to fight them off, both were thrown out. Robbers took away their belongings.

Police were yet to ascertain which train they were travelling in.
