A pre-feasibility study will be carried out for the construction of a water aerodrome at the Sardar Sarovar Dam on the Narmada river in Gujarat's Kevadiya district, about 90 kilometres fromn here, state Tourism Principal Secretary S J Haider said.

A water aerodrome is an area of open water used regularly by seaplanes or amphibious aircraft for landing and taking off.

"It is one of the four sites identified for constructing water aerodromes in Gujarat. The other three sites are on Sabarmati river, Dharoi Dam and Shatrunjay Dam," Haider told PTI Thursday.

Charan Singh, Vadodara Airport director, who has been made mentor to oversee the pre-feasibility study for the water aerodrome, said work on the study would begin soon.

Haider said the construction of such water aerodromes will provide connectivity to various places and in turn give a boost to tourism.
