Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today said a joint committee comprising government officials and High Court judges will be formed in the near future to chalk out a plan for clearing pending court cases in which Gujarat government is a litigant.
Rupani made the announcement in the presence of Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court R Subhash Reddy during the inauguration of district and sessions court building in Khambhalia town of Devbhoomi-Dwarka district today, an official release said.
Rupani stressed that his government is keen to work with the judiciary to clear pending cases by forming a joint committee. Rupani said the state government is a litigant in almost 70 per cent cases which are pending in various courts across the state.

He also expressed his desire to make Gujarat number one in providing justice in shortest possible time.
On the occasion, Reddy also stressed that judges need to pull their socks in order to ensure speedy justice by taking help of legal experts and latest softwares.
Reddy urged judicial officers to find out other alternative mechanism for redressal to bring down the burden on courts, it added.
