Claiming conspiracy in the suspension of Gujarat Amateur Boxing Association, its General Secretary I D Nanavati has written to the International Boxing Association (AIBA) complaining that the move was aimed at stopping him from participating in the upcoming Boxing India elections.

Boxing India, the provisional body entrusted with the responsibility of conducting elections for the Indian Boxing Federation by AIBA, suspended GBA for sending an allegedly offensive e-mail.

"At that time I was in USA. I did not care for that mail, but I had informed my friends in India to try and find out and tell the person concerned to write at his name rather than my name," Nanavati said in a mail to AIBA President Ching-Kuo Wu.

Nanavati said Boxing India, a consortium of corporates and administrators, is not capable of conducting free and fair elections.

"I feel that the persons to whom you have entrusted this responsibility are not competent. They are not mature. They have no knowledge of election process. With your help, they want to capture the Boxing Federation of India," he said.

"They do not give information to all the members. They have not followed the election procedure set by the Indian government. Even the constitution of Boxing India is not disclosed to all members," he alleged.

"All this proves their malafide intension to capture this Federation. Members of our National Olympic Committee are also not satisfied with their work. Even the government of India's Sports Department is not satisfied with them and therefore the government boards like Services Sports Control Board, Railway Sports Promotion Board and All India Police Board have kept themselves away from this formation," he said.

"Please do not waste any more time and in the interest of Indian Boxing and boxers, please hand over this responsibility to the Indian Olympic Association," he added.

After many delays, Boxing India has announced September 11 as the new date to hold elections for the formation of a new federation.
