Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel expressed her displeasure today towards parents who are not keen about educating their children.
"The government has provided well equipped schools, modern hostels, better transportation and other infrastructure facilities for better education in rural as well as tribal areas, but some parents do not take interest in the education of their children," the Chief Minister said while attending a drive to enroll female children in schools.
She visited Rumadiya, Kawant and Moti Chikhli villages of tribal-dominated Chhota Udaipur district of Central Gujarat and enrolled children in schools on the second day of the three-day statewide female child school enrollment drive.
She asked teachers to comply with the educational calendar, prepared by the state government and send their annual school activity reports regularly to the government to enable it to evaluate the standards of their schools.
