A high-power committee of Gujarat Government today approved two corridors of upcoming Metro Rail project in Surat city with a total investment of Rs 12,800 crore.
The Surat Metro Rail project has been divided into two routes -- Chhara to Dream City and Bhesan Depot to Saroli, announced Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation(DMRC) has been given the task to prepare a Detailed Project Report for Surat Metro Rail, which will be developed at a cost of Rs 12,800 crore, said an official release here.

Based on the draft report presented by it earlier, state government committee has given it's nod to two routes, having combined length of 40 km. Said the release.
This will be the second metro rail project in Gujarat after Ahmedabad, where construction is going on in full swing for the proposed metro, which will be further extended till Gandhinagar.
